I know I'm a little bit late with this post, but I wanted to share it with you anyway. For Christmas I went to Palm Springs with my host family and I thought it would be nice to show you how I spend my week there. We stayed for a week, from 20-26 of December and I had a great time.
When we got up in the morning we were all still very tired. We stayed in an apartment next to my host moms family. My host moms parents had a time share there, so that it where we all stayed. We didn't do much during the day, we had a nap with the babies and just walked around the resort a little bit.
On Sunday we went to the living dessert, which was kind of like a zoo. Even though we where in the dessert it wasn't that warm, which was good. We walked around there for a few hours and the babies loved it.
There was this little area, where they had a Wild West theme, so on both sides you saw these little houses and they a picnic area as well.
Off course they had some other animals as well, but the real ones where kind of hard to take a picture off, because the enclosures where so big, a lot of them where just too far away. But here are a picture with a cheetah and a lion ;)
On Monday we went to Joshua Tree National Park, without the babies this time. It was really interesting to see the different area's of the park, some really rocky others full with cacti.
We where there for the entire day, driving around and going on little hikes. We did one hike that was a bit longer and took about 1,5 hours. It was all uphill, but really pretty and luckily the way back was downhill, so it wasn't too bad. I took some panorama pictures, of the area, but the pictures don't justify how beautiful it was out there.
On Tuesday we went to downtown Palm Springs, which was not that interesting but it was fun to just walk around there and see it. There was a big Marilyn Monroe statue and we had some lunch there before we headed back to the department. It was also my grandpa's birthday so I called him and it was also Christmas Eve, but we didn't do anything too special.
Other than that we didn't really do anything that special on Christmas day, but we just hang around the resort and went swimming, another first for me on Christmas.
Thursday was our last day in Palm Springs, in the evening we would drive back. We went on the Air tram, which took you up to the mountains and you got a really nice view. It's a little hard to explain, so here are the pictures.
After we came back we packed the last things, got the babies ready for bed and we drove home, which didn't take as long as the way there.
To give you a little bit of an impression of where we stayed, here are some pictures of the resort.
This was my bed, which was in the living room. Not ideal, because when the babies woke up, I woke up too. But I didn't have anything to complain about, considering I got paid to be there.
Close to the resort there was an entire field of windmills, which was really weird to see, because I only saw them in Holland before. And that was my week in Palm Springs, I hope you enjoyed reading it and see you next time ;)
