Au pair life: update

I figured it is time for an update of my Au pair life, that is coming to an end soon :( As I mentioned in some previous posts I'm going home soon, and I just wanted to update you on the details, what I'm going to do after and how I feel about it.

I got my flight details by email this week, so it's definitely final when I'm going home now, and it's pretty soon. I'm flying home 17 July and will be home the 18th, it's crazy how fast time went by and I don't think it really sank in yet.

I'm gonna miss my little man :(

My host family found a new Au pair, from Spain. I have emailed with her a few times and she is seems really nice. We are going to overlap for about a week, so I will get to know her a little bit while showing her around here. I personally really like this, because this way I know with who I leave 'my' babies behind. It's going to be really hard to leave them, because I have been with them for so long. When I arrived here they where just 4 month old little babies, and now they turn two in a few weeks and they are getting so big. I think the hardest part for me is that they probably won't remember me when they get older....

On the other hand I have some exciting plans after this. I'm going home and started applying for jobs this week. The plan is to stay and work full time for 6 months, and then another big move! I'm going to move back to Australia and I'm so excited about that. At this point it is still not sure which city, either Brisbane or Melbourne. I applied for universities in both cities, and, already got in in Melbourne, so at least I have a place to go. For the moment I prefer Brisbane, but they want the transcripts from my biology class I took here, before they take their decision. Hopefully I will get those results this week and then I can send everything in.

For now I really hope I can figure the location out before I go home, just because it will prevent a lot of stress and off course hoping to find a job I can start as soon as possible when I'm home. In Australia I'm going to study nursing/midwifery, but I might have to do a preparation program first. On the side I'm looking into working as a part time au pair, so I can ease into my new life there a little easier. I really hope all of this will work out, and when I know more I will definitely send you an update.

Did you ever have to leave someone/something important behind? And if yes, how did you deal with that?
