Book: The 100-year-old man who climbed out the window and disappeard

From now on I'm going to try and post about a book I read about twice a month. I will let you know what I think about and how long it took me to read it. Not just for you but also a little bit for me, hopefully this will motivate me to read more ;)

I wasn't sure what book to read, so I looked for some inspiration online. There where quite a lot of people that recommended this book, so I figured I should give it a try. Being a poor Au Pair I didn't have the money to buy it, but luckily I have a library membership, hello free books!

The book is really funny, and it's easy to read. The author, Jonas Jonasson, is actually from Sweden and one of my friends told me it's one of the few books her dad liked. I understand why, there are some amazing twists from funny to sad, to amazement, from death to life. There are a lot of flashbacks in this book, but usually it changes per chapter, which makes it easy to understand. I think it's amazing how the author managed to use events that really happened and all put them together in this book. From both world wars, to atom bombs, it's all comes back in this amazing book.

There is a lot going on in the book and I don't think I can summarize it without giving away too much, so this is what's on the back:

''After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his final stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and one day, he turns a 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his alcohol consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey. It would be the adventure of a lifetime for anyone else, but Allan has a larger-than-life backstory: Not only has he witnessed some of the most important events of the 20th century, he has actually played a key role in them.''

This book is amazing and I can recommend everybody to read it. It is also available in Dutch, and I will put a link for both a Dutch and American version down below.

What is the most recent book you read?

Available at Bol.com (12,50) for my Dutch followers, and on Amazon.com ($12,50) for my followers in the USA.
