Life update: Moving to Aussieland

Today I'm going to update you a little bit on my life, last time I did this I was still in San Francisco and a lot has changed since then. I have been home for about 5 months now and am full of new plans. Many of those I mentioned to you before, but now it's really happening and I'm really excited to share it with you!

First of all I have to apologize I don't post very much lately, but I have been so busy arranging everything for uni and moving to Australia that I didn't have much time. Talking about Australia, I have some really good news, I got into the uni and have found a host family.

Before going to Australia I have one more adventure, I'm going back to San Francisco for a few days to visit my American family there. I have been missing the kids so much and can't wait to see them again. I figured if I get into a plane anyway I might as well take a detour ;) I will stay with them for about 5 days and then fly to Brisbane from there. It's gonna be an interesting flight because I will have a lay over of 17 hours in Taipeh, so if anyone has any advise on how to pass time at the airport let me know. Then I will fly to Brisbane and get there in the morning, my total travel time will be almost 41 hours, but at least then I get where I want to be.

Life back home has been a little hard. It was fine the first few weeks because it were the summer holidays, the weather was nice and I had a summer job where I had to go to every day. After the summer I started babysitting for two families, but unfortunately one of them had to move so I lost half my income and had a lot of free time on my hands all of the sudden. I was trying really hard to find a host family, so I spend most of my free days doing that.

It kind of feels like my life stopped getting home and the hard part is that no one here seems to understand... I got home and have seen my best friend maybe a handful of times, I don't really have much of social life here, except for my mom and sisters. The only one who does understand lives two hours away and public transport is pretty expensive when you're trying to safe money for uni overseas. When I was in San Francisco I hang out with friends every weekend and it kind of feels like I fell in black hole coming home. I need to save money so I can't join a sports club or something, I work as a nanny so I don't have any colleagues and it doesn't really help if my sister keeps telling me I have no friends....

On the bright side its all for a good cause, and I do have some amazing friends, but unfortunately they are spread out across the world. Before I'm leaving I plan to visit one of them in Paris, and when I will be in San Francisco I'm sure I will meet up with the friends that are still there as well. I really look forward to moving to Brisbane and making new friends, and start a new chapter in my life :)

I'm actually thinking about maybe vlogging my trip to Brisbane, what do you think?

  1. Wauw, heel erg gaaf dat je naar Australiƫ gaat! Lijkt me leuk om een vlog te zien over je reis naar Brisbane :)
